How To Draw A Butterfly: A Step-By-Step Guide

Your kid gets fascinated every time they see a butterfly in the garden or the park. Watching butterflies flutter is now your kid's favourite pastime. Capturing a butterfly is not an option, so why not teach your child how to draw a butterfly, step by step?

For a simple butterfly drawing, you will need

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Sharpener
  • Color pencils
  • Non-toxic crayons

How to Draw a Butterfly Step By Step:

Step: 1 – Start by drawing a freehand circle.

Step: 2 – Add an oval shape under the circle as shown in the picture.

Step: 3 – To continue the butterfly drawing, add the wings now. Add one bigger circle to the oval shape on the left side.

Step: 4 – Repeat the same on the right side of your butterfly image.

Step: 5 – At the bottom of the first wing, add another wing in the shape of the letter U. As shown in the picture, start drawing from the wing and stretch it till the body of the butterfly.

Step: 6 – Now draw the wing on the right side as well.

Step: 7 – Add another small circle inside the first wing on the top of the butterfly's body.

Step: 8 – Repeat the small circle on the other side too.

Step: 9 – Your butterfly pencil drawing is incomplete without the beautiful antennae. Draw two small lines on the top of the body, which is the first circle of the drawing.

Step: 10 Add two tiny circles on top of the antennae as shown in the picture.

Step: 11 – To complete your butterfly drawing image, add colors of your choice to the butterfly and bring it to life.
