Do you like cake? Most people do. Cake is "a sweetened bread, often rich or delicate." Cakes often have icing or frosting, but some do not.
The word "cake" is derived from the Old Norse word of the same meaning. The earliest cakes were usually sweet but flat, resembling modern pancakes. Over time, cooking methods changed.
Today, most cakes are baked in the oven in pans that give them distinctive shapes.
Fancy layered cakes play a role in many celebrations, including weddings, anniversaries, graduation parties, baby showers, going away parties, and birthdays. Sometimes, cupcakes are substituted for larger cakes at these events.

The cake in our illustration is decorated with candles. In many places, the birthday celebrant makes a wish before blowing out the candles. There are several theories as to the origin of this ritual.
It could have been ancient Greek celebrations of Artemis' birth or traditions in which the candles protected the celebrant from evil spirits.

In the early steps, you will draw geometric shapes. Then, you'll sketch in the details. All you will need is a pencil, an eraser, and a sheet of paper. Then, You'll likely want to use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to decorate your delectable cake.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Cartoon Cake
1. Begin by drawing a large horizontal rectangle. Then, draw a slightly smaller rectangle on top of it. These shapes form the first two layers of the cake.
2. Draw another rectangle on top of the previous shapes. Then, draw another, smaller rectangle on top of this.
3. Draw a curved line between the top corners of each rectangle. Draw another curved line between the bottom corners of the largest rectangle. This helps give a rounded shape to each of the cake's layers.
4. Erase the bottom and top lines of each rectangle, leaving a clean outline of the cake. Then, draw a short curved line from the top corners of each rectangle to the bottom of the next layer.
5. Erase the remaining guide lines of the original rectangles, leaving a clean outline.
6. Erase the top line of the top layer of the cake. In its place, draw a wavy curved line. Then, draw a wavy curved line across the front of each layer. This indicates the dripping icing of the cake.
7. Draw small circles along the top of each layer. These will become the cherries decorating the cake. Then, use a curved line to draw a half circle on the top of the cake.
8. Draw narrow vertical rectangles between the cherries on each cake layer. Erase overlapping lines as necessary. These are the candles decorating the cake.
9. Draw a curved line extending from inside each of the circles, forming the cherries' stems. Then, draw a short vertical line on top of each candle to form the wick.
10. Use curved lines that meet at a point to draw a small flame on top of each candle.
11. Draw a large oval overlapping the bottom of the cake. This will become the platter or tray on which the cake rests.
12. Erase the overlapping portion of the oval. Then, draw more cherries. For each, enclose a small circle and use the curved line for the stem.
13. Color your cartoon cake. In our illustration, we've given it pink and white icing trimmed with red cherries.
